Bloomberg Law featured an ongoing sex discrimination case in its Dec. 29 Daily Labor Report in which FH+H Partner Kevin Byrnes is representing a foreign service officer who said her State Department superior wrongly passed her over for job advancement.
The foreign service officer, who worked as director of the Office of Public Diplomacy in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, said her male supervisor didn't consider her for advancement because he thinks "action oriented" women are "too aggressive".
"When men were judged for promotion or advancement, they were judged based on their leadership abilities and their knowledge of the subject areas. In other cases involving women applicants, there was a far greater focus on their interpersonal skills," Mr. Byrnes said in the Bloomberg article.
The client also said she wasn't considered because she previously made reports of other female foreign service officers being sexually harassed by male deputies.
