FH+H recruits a select group of the brightest law students to participate in the firm's Summer Associate Program. Most law students recruited for our Summer Associate Program have completed their second year of law school and have expressed an interest not only in FH+H's varied practices, but also in FH+H's values and our focus on service to others. Our Summer Associates are a valued and respected member of the FH+H team.
Our Summer Associates work on actual projects for firm clients alongside our Associates and Partners. This provides them a realistic view of work in a law firm. Our Summer Associates meet with clients and attend strategy meetings. They also conduct complex research, draft documents, write briefs, and help prepare for trials as well as attend court appearances and depositions. We encourage our Summer Associates and our Associates and Partners to work closely together in all aspects of the firm's practice. Summer Associates may receive assignments from all practice areas, including pro bono work. Summer Associates meet regularly with Partners and Associates to receive mentoring and feedback on their work at FH+H.
FH+H prides itself on providing a balanced approach to working life for all our team. We provide a welcoming and relaxed working environment and also have a number of team building events on a regular basis such as team lunches, company summer outings, Happy Hours, and celebrating important events in our team's lives.
Each year we devote considerable effort to recruiting Summer Associates who we believe will be strong additions to the firm after graduation. Our Summer Associate recruiting occurs on a rolling basis throughout the year.
FH+H looks for three qualities in Summer Associates:
- Individuals who share the Firm's values, particularly our passion for service to our clients, our community, and our country.
- Individuals who are "swiss army knives" -- able to bring the right professional tools to bear to solve a wide variety of problems.
- Individuals who have an entrepreneurial spirit and who welcome the risk and rewards involved in building a different kind of law firm.
