FH+H Partner Cheri Bennett has almost 20 years of experience as legal counsel working with nearly all areas and aspects of business law, with particularly deep and broad experience in the corporate, securities, investment management, and general business areas.
She has spent her entire legal career advising at the executive level of companies — large and small, public and private — as both outside counsel and inside the company. She has also advised individual investors in companies about their investments, individual Board of Director members on issues requiring independent counsel, and the investment banks who facilitate both raising money as well as buying and selling the companies.
Ms. Bennett started her career working at one of the key financial regulators, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where she advised the CEOs, CFOs, General Counsels and lead outside counsels of publicly held companies in their capital raising activities, M&A transactions, periodic reporting, and corporate governance obligations. She honed that experience at large AmLaw 100 ranked law firms, in-house at a major publicly traded company, and leading the Corporate Securities practice group as a Partner in a mid-sized firm.
Throughout her tenure, Ms. Bennett's practice has included working with regulatory authorities, other legal counsel, accounting/auditing professionals and financial advisers, various types of vendors, and many other practitioners in the business industry, as well as individuals and their families.
Her diverse legal experience, along with her M.B.A. in Finance, have given Ms. Bennett a unique perspective on business matters and the abilities to understand, relate to and communicate with business people of all types and roles, while addressing and supporting the respective concerns and needs of each. She is able to synthesize and look at a situation holistically, raising and addressing potential issues in every facet of a business transaction or legal matter.
Ms. Bennett has advised clients in range of industries including, for example, social networking, internet media, web and mobile app development, telecom, biotechnology, high-tech manufacturing, retail apparel, consumer goods/services, banking, insurance, registered and private investment funds, business development companies and small business investment companies, and investment banks on general business, corporate, securities, and investment management matters.
