Jonathan (“Jon”) Spaeth has been a practicing attorney for more than 30 years.  Mr. Spaeth brings a unique blend of law firm and in-house experience to FH+H.

Mr. Spaeth was a Partner for many years at the Washington, D.C. office of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, LLP, where he conducted high-profile litigation for Fortune 100 and other large corporate clients. 

Following his law firm experience, Mr. Spaeth held a variety of senior in-house positions at private and public companies in the defense industry, including Raytheon.  Most recently, Mr. Spaeth served as General Counsel to the largest division of Zebra Technologies Corporation, where he negotiated the company’s highly publicized contract with the National Football League, and as General Counsel to two technology start-ups. 

Mr. Spaeth’s principal areas of expertise are civil litigation, commercial transactions and contracts, government contracts, regulatory compliance, and labor and employment matters.

A native of Washington, D.C., Mr. Spaeth obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his law degree from the University of Virginia.

  • Negotiated high profile $50 million transaction with the National Football League on behalf of a publicly traded commercial technology company.
  • Successfully defended Fortune 100 company in seeking $100 million in damages under the False Claims Act.
  • Obtained preliminary injunction requiring former employee of client to remove trade secrets from publicly available website, thereby preventing loss of client's intellectual property.
  • Successfully managed whistleblower investigation on behalf of government contractor, ensuring no litigation or government inquiry and resulting in a clean external audit.
  • Represented Fortune 100 defense contractor in industry initiative to create EU legislation implementing liability protection for anti-terrorism technologies, traveling throughout Europe for C-Level meetings including with high level members of the EU Parliament and U.S. Ambassadors to European nations.
  • Obtained more than $2 million in damages on behalf of tenants of a federally subsidized housing complex in highly publicized class action.
  • Successfully defended Fortune 100 company in nationwide class action race discrimination suit.
