FH+H Counsel Phillip Carter, along with research team members at the Center for a New American Security, recently published a report to assess the needs of veterans in DC, Maryland, and Northeastern Pennsylvania.
The report attempts to shed light on the existing needs among veterans, what the main efforts are at meeting those needs, and if there are any particularly vulnerable groups of veterans.
For veterans in DC, the report concluded that while the median income is significantly higher than the national average, there are far fewer organizations focused on meeting the needs of local veterans.
In Maryland, rural veterans face challenges because of their distance to medical care, while in Northeastern Pennsylvania, female and minority veterans experience challenges when looking for services that meet their specific needs.
